Welcome to McGavock Elementary School

*Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement

*Named one of Tennessee's Most Effective Schools in 2008 by the
Education Consumer's Foundation.

Our school serves approximately 300 students in the heart of the Donelson Area of Nashville, TN. We value our diverse population of students and pride ourselves on our dedication toward providing the highest quality education to each individual student. We also proudly serve as an English Language Learner (ELL) center.

Our faculty and staff strive to provide a positive learning environment where all students are motivated and challenged to fulfill their potential. We use a variety of strategies to engage students in learning and practicing new concepts. We strongly believe that students of all ability levels should interact and learn from each other. We practice this belief by integrating students of differing abilities throughout the educational program of the school.

Our motto “Together We Shine” reflects our belief that students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community can and should share the responsibility for meeting the academic, emotional, and social challenges our children face growing up. Please join us in this endeavor.
