The mission of Love Helps, inc. is to educate and affirm children toward responsible behavior through positive character development using diverse programs networked with the community and administered in love.

The Pencil Foundation,a nonprofit organization, creates a vital link between the private sector and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools,increases understanding of and appreciation for public education, promotes community involvement in student learning, and secures a strong commitment from business leaders to help provide materials and resources essential to quality education.

PENCIL is currently recruiting businesses and organizations that would like to partner with a Metro school. PENCIL Partners are involved in a variety of ways. Mission Statement

Our mission is to recruit and train older adults as reading tutors and mentors for elementary school children in East Nashville, Inglewood, Madison, Old Hickory, Hermitage and Donelson

Description

FLIP volunteers work for two hours a week during the school day as reading tutors and mentors with four children one-on-one in Metro elementary schools. Because of the close relationship tutors develop with the students, they serve as role models and mentors while they help them become better readers. Tutors commit to serve for the school year at a school near their home and at a time which is individually scheduled.
